From a high quality, old vine block in higher Agrelo, this is a serious expression of Malbec which is characterised by its rocky terroir and small batch wine making. Award winning Malbec from Argentinean specialists of this native grape. High altitude, single vineyard quality that is truly of place.
Production
This single vineyard site is located at a height of 1200 masl in the Alto Agrelo region of Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza. Here, the alluvial soil surrounded by large boulders, has good drainage, limestone and low organic material which produces wines with greater concentration of flavours. Due to the wide temperature range in this area, the grapes ripen slowly. All grapes are harvested by hand in April and fermented in small cement vats, which makes it possible to obtain softer tannins. The wines is aged in fine grain French oak barrels for 18 - 24 months to aachieve its unique and subtle aromas.
Cadus Single Vineyard ‘Finca Las Torcazas’ Malbec 2021 (6 bottles case)
Tasting notes
Deep dense purple in colour with a rich spicy plum, black berry nose, along with notes of violet, spice, vanilla and cedar. Powerful ripe red fruit mixed with prunes and and more sweet vanilla from the oak, with liquorice and dark chocolate on the finish. The wine has a lovely rich palate weight, with balanced grainy tannins matched by refreshing acidity. This is a wine that will age for a decade or more.
Food match
Roasted lamb, red meats, and the perfect match to the traditional "empanadas" from Argentina (home made meat pies). Or perfect as a comforting, fireside wine.

Meet the producer
Cadus is a perfectly formed winery near Tupungato, in the shadow of the Andes Mountains, within the Uco Valley. This high altitude region has quickly built a reputation as the home of premium Mendozan wines and the Cadus range is no exception. The soil profiles and compositions within the Uco Valley vary within short distances, allowing for different grape varieties and resulting in wines styles with unique characteristics.
With vineyards in the best sites in the Valley (namely Gualtallary, Vista Flores and Agrelo in Lujan de Cuyo), Cadus wines are classic in style but with a very modern twist thanks to the vision of winemaker Santiago Mayorga (Young Winemaker of the Year 2017) who is quickly forging a reputation for bright, lifted expressions of wine from the region.
