Grapes are sourced from the peak of Finca Tremoedo, the coolest part of the vineyard, just behind the winery building. Here the soil is shallow and granite-rich, producing a complex Albariño with the acidity and mineral structure of a wine capable of great ageing.
Production
Produced from 100% estate-grown Albariño - cultivated in a single plot of the Finca Tremoedo vineyard in Vilanova de Arousa. Vines of average age approaching 40 years are pergola-trained in shallow granite soils. The grapes are hand-harvested into 17kg crates. After 12 hours contact with the skins, the free-run juice undergoes fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel. The wine is aged on fine lees for 36 months.

Tasting notes
Exotic aromas with notes of pineapple and honeysuckle. The palate is gently rounded, with ripe tropical fruit and peach notes backed by appealing floral characters, subtle leesy notes, a hint of tangerine oil, and a long mineral finish. The 2019 vintage is widely regarded as of very high quality in Rias Baixas. This wine has extraordinary balance and complexity with a pure grapefruit character balanced with a saline finish. Hugely enjoyable but will reward ageing over 3-5 years.

Meet the producer
Bodegas Granbazan was established in the heart of the Val do Salnés, Rías Baixas, in 1981. The winery and Bordeaux-style manor house is at the centre of the 13.5 hectare Finca Tremoedo vineyard. Their focus is purely on the Albariño grape and to that end the vineyard was planted in 1980 with a range of Albariño clones from across Galicia. Finca Tremoedo consists of 10 different plots, each with its own microclimate, and each tended and harvested separately.
