An unapologetically dark pink and full flavoured rose from Spain's classic Navarra region - the home of some of the finest Spanish roses!

Production

Garnacha grapes are harvested from the estate's vineyard No 5, close to the winery. Here old bush vines (average age 60 years) are planted on brown limestone and loam soils at an altitude of 450m. Low yields ensure ripe fruit and good concentration. Harvesting is by hand during late September / early October. Produced by the saignée (or 'bleeding' method), the free run juice is fermented for approximately 20 days - in stainless steel and at low temperatures to preserve the aromatics and purity of fruit.

  • Tasting notes

'Though pale rosé is very fashionable, this is a traditional style of Garnacha rosado. Sarria focus on creating a full-flavoured wine rather than sacrificing flavour in an atttempt to meet the popular aesthetic. It's a textured, more complex, rosé with bright and intense red cherry and berry characters with hints of strawberry. Ripe, mouth-filling and concentrated with some tannic grip, yet balanced by fresh acidity.

  • Food match

A very versatile wine - try with grilled salmon or asian salads.

  • Meet the producer

Bodega de Sarría lies on a large and beautiful estate in Valdizarbe, in the hills above Puente la Reina, near Pamplona. Situated amongst 1,000 hectares of forest, the 210 ha of vineyard consists mainly of south-facing slopes at 400-500m altitude, planted primarily with Tempranillo, Graciano (the most extensive plantings of the variety in Spain), Garnacha, Cabernet, Merlot, Mazuelo and Chardonnay.

Founded in 1953, Sarria was one of the pioneers of quality winemaking in Navarra. Some vineyard areas date back to then, and even their youngest vines are now over 20 years old. The range excels in all areas - including the complex and spicy Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva.
